Siport21 participated in the 50º Naval Architecture and Maritime Industry Conference

The Ship Manoeuvring Simulation, Port Engineering and Maritime Safety Consulting Company, Siport21, has presented three papers in the 50º Naval Architecture and Maritime Industry Conference, organized by Spanish Naval Architects Association.

In association with WW–Consultores de Hidráulica e Obras Marítimas (Lisbon, Portugal), Siport21 developed the study “Analysis of Ships Operations for the Cruises Berth. Port of Funchal (Madeira, Portugal)” for APRAM (Administração dos Portos da Região Autónoma da Madeira, Portugal). It consisted of a feasibility analysis for the construction of a new berth in an area partially sheltered to waves, based on manoeuvring and mooring conditions of cruise vessels.

On the other hand, the study “Risk assessment on Port Access Manoeuvres. Review of regulations for car-carriers at the Port of Pasajes” was presented. It was assigned by the Port Authority of Pasajes. The study has been carried out using Siport21 Real-Time Manoeuvring Simulator. Quantitative Risk Analysis techniques were applied to assess tug assistance in regard to ship accidents eventually affecting inhabited areas.

Finally, the study “New Outer Port of Ciutadella. Analysis of large cruise ships manoeuvres and training of Captains and Pilots in Real Time Ship Bridge Simulator” was presented in the Conference. It is a part of Outer Port project, where
Europrincipia and Berenguer Ingenieros were involved, together with Ports de Illes Balears and Balearia. This project has increased port capacity, enhanced functionality and eliminated the risk of “rissagas”.
